In short

Highlights at The Village Edit are foils woven through your hair to add brightness, dimension and depth — from a full head of all-over lift to a softer half head or a face-framing T-section. Every set is placed by Bobby, our L'Oréal Certified Colour Specialist, in our salon on the High Street in Wimbledon Village. Highlights start from £109, and every appointment begins with a complimentary consultation.

Whether you want a bright, all-over blonde or a few sun-kissed pieces to lift your natural colour, the placement is tailored for you in the chair — never one-size-fits-all.

The options

Your highlight options

Highlights are mixed and placed for you. A full head of highlights gives all-over brightness and dimension; a half head lifts the top and the sides where the light catches; and a T-section brightens your parting and the pieces around your face — a lovely, lower-cost way to refresh.

For something softer, babylights are very fine highlights that mimic a natural, sun-kissed brightness, and a money piece lightens the strands that frame your face. Our colour specialist Bobby recommends the right placement for your hair, your colouring and the upkeep you want — and finishes with a toner to perfect the tone.

Our approach

Placed by hand, toned to perfection

Bobby places every foil by hand, building brightness exactly where the light should fall, then perfects the result with a toner or gloss so the blonde is never brassy. Your hair is cared for throughout with Olaplex and Kérastase bond care for strength, softness and shine.

It is colour led by consultation, not by a swatch. We take the time to understand the look you want and what your hair can take healthily, then create it in real time, for you, in the chair.

"Beautiful highlights are about placement and tone, not just lift. I build the brightness where the light falls, then tone it so it stays soft and wearable."
— Bobby, L'Oréal Certified Colour Specialist
"Bobby is brilliant — friendly, professional and takes the time to understand what you want."

Highlights — your questions

How much are highlights in Wimbledon Village?

Highlights at The Village Edit in Wimbledon Village start from £109 for a T-section, £125 for a half head and £159 for a full head. A toner is £28 with a colour service. Your precise price is confirmed free at your consultation, with no obligation.

How long do highlights take?

A highlights appointment at The Village Edit usually takes from around 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes, depending on the amount of hair and the placement. Your stylist confirms the timing at your consultation so you can plan your day.

What's the difference between full-head, half-head and T-section highlights?

A full head of highlights brightens all over; a half head lifts the top and sides; and a T-section brightens just your parting and face-framing pieces — the lowest-cost option, from £109. Bobby recommends the right amount for the look you want at your consultation in Wimbledon Village.

What are babylights?

Babylights are very fine highlights woven through the hair for a soft, natural, sun-kissed brightness — lovely on fine hair or for a subtle lift. Bobby will talk you through whether they suit your hair at your free consultation.

What is a money piece?

A money piece lightens the strands that frame your face for a bright, face-framing lift. It pairs beautifully with highlights or balayage, and Bobby will recommend what suits you at your consultation in Wimbledon Village.

What is foilyage?

Foilyage combines hand-painted balayage with foils — the colour is painted on, then wrapped in foil for extra lift, which is ideal on darker or more resistant hair. Bobby will recommend whether foilyage, classic foils or balayage suits your hair at your consultation in Wimbledon Village.

Highlights or balayage — which should I get?

Highlights use foils for a brighter, more uniform, all-over lift, while balayage is hand-painted freehand for a softer, lived-in, lower-maintenance grow-out. See our balayage page, or Bobby will recommend the right one for your hair at your consultation.

Will highlights damage my hair?

Highlights are a lightening service, so we protect your hair throughout with Olaplex and Kérastase bond care for strength, softness and shine. Bobby keeps every service within what your hair can take healthily.

How often do highlights need doing?

Most clients refresh full highlights every two to three months. A half-head or T-section between visits keeps things bright and the grow-out soft, for less.

I've never coloured my hair before — where do I start?

Start with a complimentary consultation. If it is your first colour with us, we carry out a patch test at least 48 hours beforehand. There is no obligation — book a consultation with Bobby and we will talk through the right highlights for you. For more booking and patch-test detail, see our FAQs.

Is there parking near the salon?

Yes — paid parking is on Belvedere Grove, The Grange and Highbury Road, all via the RingGo app. The Village Edit is at 2 High Street, in the heart of Wimbledon Village, SW19 5DX. See Contact for directions.

Afterwards

Keeping your highlights bright and soft

Highlights stay their best with a little care: use a sulphate-free, colour-safe shampoo and conditioner, add a weekly bond or moisture treatment, and a purple or silver toning shampoo once a week to keep blonde tones cool and bright. A toner or gloss every few weeks refreshes the tone between appointments — we will recommend the right care for your hair at your visit.

Ready when you are. See our full hair menu, explore balayage, hair colour or cut & blow-dry, or book your highlights.
