Cookie Policy
This policy explains how The Village Edit uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) 2003 and the UK GDPR.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function, remember your preferences, and understand how you use it.
2. How We Manage Consent
When you first visit our website, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Analytics cookies are not set until you choose "Accept". If you choose "Only essential" — or simply ignore the banner — no analytics cookies are placed on your device.
You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in our website footer. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) and contains no personal data.
3. Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary Storage
We do not set any first-party cookies of our own to run the website. We store two small preferences in your browser's local storage (technically not cookies, and containing no personal data):
- Your cookie choice — whether you accepted or declined analytics (key:
tve-cookie-consent) - Offer banner — remembers whether you dismissed our promotional banner, so it doesn't reappear during your visit
Analytics Cookies (require your consent)
If — and only if — you choose "Accept", we load Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our website. This data is pseudonymised (Google assigns a unique identifier to your device, but this cannot directly identify you by name).
_ga— unique visitor identifier (duration: 2 years)_ga_*— session state (duration: 2 years)
These cookies are never set unless you accept. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Our booking platform, Fresha, may set its own cookies when you interact with the booking widget for payment processing and fraud prevention. See Fresha's Privacy Policy for details.
5. Marketing Cookies
We do not currently use marketing, advertising, or retargeting cookies (such as Facebook Pixel or Google Ads). If we introduce marketing cookies in the future, this policy will be updated and your explicit consent will be required before they are set.
6. Withdrawing Consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the website footer and choosing "Only essential". Google Analytics is then switched off and any analytics cookies already set are cleared. Processing that occurred before withdrawal remains lawful.
You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.
7. Data Transfers
Google Analytics is operated by a US-based company. Data transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses and applicable data protection agreements. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
