Need to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need before your visit. If your question isn't answered here, reach out to hello@thevillageedit.co.uk — we're happy to help.

Your First Visit

What should I expect on my first visit?

Every new client begins with a complimentary consultation. Your stylist or therapist will take the time to understand what you're looking for, assess your hair, skin, or nails, and recommend the right treatment. There's no rush — we want to get it exactly right.

Do I need to arrive early?

We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes before your appointment. This gives you time to settle in, complete any consultation forms, and discuss your treatment with your therapist.

Is there anything I should bring?

Just yourself. If you have any reference images for hair colour or style, feel free to bring those — they're helpful during consultation. If this is your first colour appointment, please allow time for a patch test (see below).

Is The Village Edit accessible?

We are committed to making our salon and website accessible to everyone. For specific accessibility needs, please contact us in advance at hello@thevillageedit.co.uk so we can make the right arrangements. See our full Accessibility Statement.

Booking & Appointments

How do I book an appointment?

All appointments are booked through our online system, Fresha. Simply choose your service, select a time, and you'll receive instant confirmation. You can also pop into the salon or email hello@thevillageedit.co.uk.

Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Yes — we ask for a minimum of 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. A card is held on file when you book to cover the following fees:

  • Late cancellation (less than 24 hours' notice) — 30% of each service
  • No-show — 50% of each service

For emergencies, please call the salon directly and we'll do our best to help. Full details on our Terms page.

What if I'm running late?

Please let us know as soon as possible. If you're more than 15 minutes late, we may need to shorten your treatment or reschedule to avoid impacting other clients. We'll always do our best to accommodate you.

Do you offer consultations?

Yes — every appointment includes a complimentary consultation. For colour services, we especially recommend booking a consultation first so Bobby, our colour specialist, can assess your hair and discuss the best approach.

Hair Colour & Patch Tests

Do I need a patch test before colour?

Yes. For your safety, we require a skin patch test 24 hours before your first colour service. This applies to all new clients and to clients who haven't had a colour service with us in the past six months. The test is quick, free, and performed at the salon.

How do I book a patch test?

Simply contact us at hello@thevillageedit.co.uk or pop into the salon. We'll arrange it at a time that suits you — it only takes a few minutes. Please book your patch test at least 24 hours before your colour appointment.

What happens during a colour consultation?

Bobby, our certified colour specialist, will assess your hair type, condition, and colour history. He'll discuss what you're looking for, show you options, and recommend the best approach. Results can vary depending on your hair — he'll be upfront about what to expect.

What if I have an allergic reaction?

If you experience any adverse reaction following a colour service, contact the salon immediately and seek medical advice. This is why the patch test is so important — it helps us identify sensitivities before your appointment.

Our Services

What services do you offer?

We offer three pillars of precision under one roof: Hair (cuts, colour, styling, treatments, wedding hair), Manicure (classic, luxury, shellac, gel extensions), and Pedicure (spa, luxury, shellac, and our signature Medical Pedicure). See our full Services & Pricing page.

What is the Medical Pedicure?

Our Medical Pedicure is one of our signature services. Natalia, trained at a prestigious hospital in Latvia, provides clinical-grade foot care — including callus removal, corn removal, and ingrown toenail treatment — in a relaxing salon environment. If you have any foot concerns, this is the treatment to ask about.

Do you offer wedding or occasion hair?

Yes. Occasion styling and bridal hair packages (including a trial and the day itself) are available on application. For wedding enquiries, please email hello@thevillageedit.co.uk so we can give you the full attention you deserve.

Can children visit the salon?

Yes — we offer children's haircuts for those aged 10 and under. Clients under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Certain treatments may have additional age restrictions — please ask a member of the team.

Do I need to disclose medical conditions?

Yes. For your safety, please inform us of any allergies, medical conditions, or medications before your treatment. This is especially important for colour services and medical pedicures. All information is kept confidential in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
