Accessibility Statement
The Village Edit is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. As a private business, we comply with the Equality Act 2010, Section 29, which requires that our services — including our website — are accessible to people with disabilities to the extent that is reasonable.
Our Standard
We are working toward conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards. We conduct ongoing testing and address issues as they arise.
Measures We Take
- Semantic HTML5 structure throughout all pages
- Colour contrast ratios of at least 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text
- Descriptive alt text on all images
- Full keyboard navigation across all interactive elements, with visible focus indicators
- ARIA labels on navigation, buttons, and interactive components
- Skip-to-content link on every page
- Responsive design tested across desktop, tablet, and mobile
- Touch targets of at least 44x44 pixels on mobile devices
- Text resizes without loss of functionality up to 200%
- All forms include clear labels and error messages
Known Limitations
We have identified the following accessibility limitations and are actively working to resolve them:
- Fresha booking widget — our third-party booking platform may have limited keyboard accessibility and screen reader support. Workaround: contact us by phone or email to book your appointment
- Olivia chat assistant — our AI chat feature may not be fully compatible with all screen readers. Workaround: use our contact form or email us directly
- Gallery images — currently using placeholder images. Descriptive alt text will be reviewed and updated when real photography is added

Third-Party Services
We use third-party services including Fresha (booking) and Olivia (AI chat) which are governed by their own accessibility standards. We have communicated our accessibility expectations to these providers and will update our integration as improvements become available.
