Colour Correction in Wimbledon Village

Colour that went wrong, put right. Box dye that went too dark, home bleach that went brassy, bands from years of colour over colour — corrected by Bobby, our L'Oréal Certified Colour Specialist, in our Wimbledon Village salon. Going darker starts from £124; everything else is quoted at your free consultation, before any colour touches your hair. What yours needs is something only Bobby can judge.

In short

Colour correction at The Village Edit is the work of putting hair colour right — lifting what went too dark, cooling what went brassy, evening out what went patchy or banded, or taking you darker again. Every correction is led by Bobby, our L'Oréal Certified Colour Specialist, in our salon on the High Street in Wimbledon Village. Going darker starts from £124; every other correction is quoted for your hair at a complimentary consultation.

No two corrections are the same job, so we do not pretend they are the same price. You tell Bobby what your hair has had, he tells you what can be done, over how many visits, and what it will cost — and nothing starts until you have that.

Is it for you?

Where are you starting?

Heavy, flat dark brown lengths, seen in profile 01

Too dark, or too heavy

Box dye that went darker than the picture, or a brunette that has turned flat and heavy. Bobby looks at what is underneath before anything is lifted — gently, and in stages where your hair needs it — then says honestly whether it takes one visit or more.

Long hair with brassy orange mid-lengths and bands, seen from the back 02

Brassy, orange or banded

Home bleach or a highlight kit that went orange, or stripes from years of colour laid over colour. The tone is corrected and the bands evened out — the plan, and whether it is one visit or two, is set at your consultation.

Going darker, or back to natural

Blonde to brunette, or a colour you have stopped loving, taken back towards your own. The simplest correction, and the one with a price — confirmed for your hair at your consultation.

Our approach

Honesty before chemistry

A correction is only as good as what the colourist knows before starting. So every one begins the same way — with your hair's history, and a plan you agree to before anything is mixed.

  1. Consultation & patch test. Free and without obligation. Bring what you know — what was used, roughly when, and a photo of the colour you want. Bobby assesses what your hair has had and what it can take. A patch test at least 48 hours before your first colour with us.
  2. The plan, and the price. You leave knowing what will be done, over how many visits, and what it will cost — going darker from £124, everything else quoted for your hair. Nothing starts until you have that.
  3. The correction. Lifted, toned or deepened in the order your hair needs — in stages where one visit would ask too much of it — with Olaplex bond care where your hair needs it.
  4. The finish. A toner or gloss sets the exact shade, and a care plan keeps it there between visits.
"Correction starts with honesty, not chemistry. Tell me everything your hair has had, and I will tell you what can be done, in how many visits, and what it will cost — and I will not promise what your hair cannot keep."

What to expect

What it costs, and why

Every correction begins with a complimentary consultation. Going darker has a starting price because it is one defined job. Lifting, toning and evening out do not — a box-dye black and a brassy highlight kit need different work, different products and sometimes different visits — so those are quoted for your hair, in the chair, before anything begins.

Colour Correction — from £124. Confirmed by Bobby at your free consultation:

  • Colour Correction — going darker, or back to natural from £124
  • Colour Correction — lifting, toning or evening out quoted at consultation
  • Olaplex Bonding Treatment — where your hair needs it from £41
  • Patch test — at least 48 hours before your first colour arranged when you book

Every price is a starting point — your hair's history, length and condition decide the rest, and only Bobby can judge that at your free consultation.

Colour correction — your questions

How much does colour correction cost in Wimbledon Village?

Going darker — blonde to brunette, or back towards your natural — starts from £124. Everything else, from lifting box dye to evening out bands, is quoted for your hair at a free consultation at The Village Edit in Wimbledon Village, before any colour work begins. A correction is never one fixed job, so we would rather quote yours than guess.

Can colour correction be done in one visit?

Sometimes. A tone that has gone brassy or ashy can often be corrected in one visit. Lifting dark box dye, or evening out years of banding, can ask more of your hair than one visit should — then Bobby stages the work across more than one, with the plan and the price agreed first. He tells you which at your consultation.

How long does a colour correction take?

It depends entirely on what your hair has had. Some corrections are an afternoon; others are planned over more than one visit so your hair stays healthy. You will know before you book the first one.

Can a hairdresser fix box dye?

Yes — it is the most common correction we see. Box dye is built to be stubborn, so the work depends on how dark it went, how many times it has been applied and what is underneath. Bobby assesses that at a free consultation and explains the route for your hair.

Should I try a colour remover at home first?

We would rather you didn't. Home removers and bleach kits are what bring most corrections to us, and each one makes the next step harder to predict. Come as you are — the honest starting point is what Bobby needs to see.

Will colour correction damage my hair?

Any lightening asks something of your hair, which is why a correction is paced — lifted in stages where needed, protected with Olaplex bond care, and never pushed further than your hair can take in one visit. If your hair is not ready for a step, Bobby will say so.

Can I go blonde straight after box dye?

Usually not in one go. Old colour lifts unevenly, so it needs correcting before it can be taken lighter. Bobby assesses it first at a free consultation — and from there, our going blonde page explains the journey.

What should I tell Bobby at the consultation?

Everything — box dye, henna, a home bleach, a highlight kit, colour done elsewhere, and roughly when. Bring the box or a photo of it if you have it, and a picture of the colour you want. The more Bobby knows, the more precise the plan and the price.

Do I need a patch test before colour correction?

If it is your first colour with us, yes — we carry out a quick patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment. It takes moments, and we arrange it when you book your consultation at the salon in Wimbledon Village.

Is there parking near the salon?

Yes — paid parking is on Belvedere Grove, The Grange, Murray Road and Highbury Road, all via the RingGo app. The Village Edit is at 2 High Street, in the heart of Wimbledon Village, SW19 5DX. See Contact for directions.

Afterwards

Keeping the colour right

After a correction the care plan matters more than usual: the shampoo and conditioner Bobby recommends for your colour, a gloss between visits where the plan calls for it, and — if your correction is staged — your next appointment booked before you leave.

Elsewhere in the hair menu: the full price list, hair colour, going blonde, balayage, highlights, cut & blow-dry and keratin smoothing.
